Shiri Assayag- Princeton Makes

Shiri is a multi-media artist who was born in Israel (1976) and has always had a passion for drawing and painting. She studied to be an occupational therapist (2002 Tel Aviv University)- a profession she chose because of her love of working with people. She worked in neurorehabilitation centers in Israel, helping patients to get back to their daily functions. In 2015 she took a year of art study (Oranim Seminar) to continue her education and found again her passion for art.

In 2016 Shiri relocated with her husband, their 3 kids, and their dog to Princeton, NJ and now works as a Hebrew teacher in Hatikvah international academy charter school in East Brunswick.
In Princeton she continued taking more art classes to enrich her experience. She creates in her home studio in different media and chooses oils, watercolor, ink, or mixed media depending on the subject(s) and the emotions it involves.

Most of her work is inspired by nature and family, and how they evolve over seasons and time. She depicts and showcases nature scenes from Israel, and nostalgic memories from walks with her family as a child or as an adult after starting her own family. These reminiscent experiences in Israel and new ones around Princeton, can be felt throughout her art as they remind us of the simplicity yet sophisticated nature and our connection to it.
